Added Value Service
The New Oxford American Dictionary defines service as “an act of assistance”. At Gardey Financial Advisors, we believe service is defined by actions rather than words. Here are some examples of our “definition” of service:
- Tom Chisholm, one of our financial advisors, drove 150 miles to obtain a signature from a client who was busy arranging her son’s wedding.
- When a client finds it difficult to come to our office, our financial advisors frequently meet with them in their home.
- Jonathan Gardey, executive vice president of our firm, obtained quotes from a number of mortgage brokers for a client who was considering the purchase of a Florida condo.
- When a client was faced with surgery and uncertain about what option to choose, Kim Gardey, president of our firm, sent him several books that discussed the alternatives available to him. Using the information he obtained from his reading, and in consultation with his physician, our client settled on an option.
- During an audit of a client’s personal insurance coverage, Gardey Financial Advisors discovered that the Homeowner’s insurance on a home that had been gifted to a child was still in the name of the parents. The child had not purchased coverage; therefore, there was not any insurance currently in effect on the home. Additionally, the parents were living in the home as tenants, and the child did not have any liability coverage on the home to cover bodily injury or property damage. Also, the client owned another rental property in a different state, and that property did not have any liability coverage. By working with the client’s insurance agent, all the coverage gaps were addressed to provide the proper protecton. Our insurance audits have found disclosed situations in which clients have not had the proper insurance policies or adequate amounts of coverage.
Help for Our Medicare Clients on the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan
We are assisting our Medicare eligible clients in the selection of a prescription drug plan. The complexities of the drug program and the number of options available make the selection process particularly difficult. We provide the assistance to our clients without additional charge as part of our standard comprehensive financial services.
A key part of the selection process is the twenty-question questionnaire which we developed to collect the information which we need to properly and logically analyze each client’s situation.
As our name states, our mission is to provide financial advice. In order to accomplish this service, we feel obligated to address all of the comprehensive financial needs of our clients. While service is often difficult to define in a meaningful way, the examples provided reflect recent events that show our determination to fulfill our mission.
